Jansen Walker Beta 1 Official Release

I’m officially releasing my Jansen Walker as a beta with the source files and a video!

Jansen Walker: An openly designed Creative Commons licensed robot.

What you see here is the Beta 1 version of the walker, a laser-cut robot, based on the Jansen Mechanism. It has 8 legs and scuttles similar to a crab walking sideways. The brain is a Arduino, and the legs are powered by 2 micro-servos modified for continuous rotation.

If you would like to buy a kit of just the plastic in its current state, check out the donate page, or take the plans to any of the many laser cutting services.

For the full write up and source files check out 4volt.com/Projects/Jansen/

Wow seriously nice work, what a great thing to have on your desk. You could turn this into a proper product just go to some RC companies and you could get royalties for everyone sold without having to make them all yourself.
It looks amazing well done dude

this project is *great* nicely done! i have a laser cutter so i'll try and make one soon. one important note, you might want to remove "open source" from the title of the project since open source implies commercial use is allowed.
